- I recommend Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. You can camp, hotel, or houseboat. I grew up houseboating on Lake Cumberland and have great memories.
- Only place I can think of right now, in Ohio, is Deer Creek-Madison county--They have cabins that can be rented-I think web site is deercreeklodge.com--not sure. It is near Mt. Sterling and only about half an hour or so out of Columbus. They also have rooms in lodge, I think. Goodnight.
- How about Put-In-Bay or Kelley's Island near Cedar Point/Sandusky in Northern Ohio on Lake Erie. Put-In-Bay is very charming.
- you can have a very good time in the paint creek area. there is a very nice lake an state park. also you will be in area to check out the caves in the area too. bainbridge is a very neat little town. goggle paint creek state park. and the bainbridge areas.
- East Fork Lake near Bethel is very nice. There beach is small, but if you're boating, you'll enjoy the lake. Also, Brookville Lake in Brookville Indiana is great. It is also close to the town of Metemora Indiana which is a great place to go antiquing.
- Cumberland is great and if you want to go a little further Norris Lake in TN is awesome! We are going to Kincaid Lake over the 4th for a littel camping, I have heard very good things about it, buit will update when we get back. One plae we used to go to when I was a kid was Mineral Springs in Ohio. It is east on 32 and is a very neat plac. The water is pristine because it is fed off of a mineral spring. They allow no motor boats to keep it that way. You can canor all over the place and not feel like you are going to be run over by the power boats. As a kid I loved going there to go camping! Also, Hueston Woods, which is close to Oxford is a very nice place to go as well. They have a nice lodge if you are not into the whole tent thing!
- You can always try Norris Lake in the Tennessee area. I know a number of people that have been there, and they like it better than Cumberland. They say its cleaner, amongst other things. You can always look for rentals on some of the lesser known lakes as well, such as Hardy lake in Indiana, Brookville Lake in Indiana, Buckeye lake up near Columbus, Grand Lake St. Mary's in Celina Ohio, etc. There's also Salt Fork state park in SE Ohio, or Hueston Woods, but the lakes there arent real big.
